Prof. KURTULUŞ KARAMUSTAFA

Prof. Dr. Kurtulus Karamustafa is registered in the Daday district of Kastamonu province and was born in Zonguldak in 1969.

He completed his primary education at Karabük Kapullu Village Primary School and his secondary education at Karabük Central Secondary School. He graduated from Bolu Hotel Management and Tourism Vocational High School in 1986 as the top student.

After completing a one-year English preparatory class, he received his bachelor's degree from Çukurova University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Mersin Tourism Management and Hotel Management School in 1991. He began his academic career at Erciyes University on September 5, 1991.

He completed his Master's degree in Tourism Management at Erciyes University, Institute of Social Sciences in August 1993, then continued his doctoral studies at the Scottish Hotel School, Strathclyde University [Glasgow], United Kingdom with a Higher Education Council Scholarship, and returned to Türkiye in August 1999 after receiving her PhD in Tourism Management.

Karamustafa, who was appointed as an assistant professor at Erciyes University on June 10, 2000, served as the Founding Director of Erciyes University Nevşehir Vocational School [September 2000 - February 2009].

After receiving the academic title of associate professor in "Marketing" from the Interuniversity Board on April 7, 2006, he was appointed as an associate professor in "Tourism Marketing" at Erciyes University Tourism Management and Hotel Management Vocational School on July 13, 2006.

Appointed as a professor in the field of "Tourism Marketing" at Erciyes University's School of Tourism Management and Hotel Management on June 10, 2011, Karamustafa served as the Founding Director of Erciyes University's School of Tourism Management and Hotel Management [August 2006 - May 2013] and the Founding Dean of Erciyes University's Faculty of Tourism [May 2013 - September 2018]. He organized the 1st National Vocational School Directors Meeting, the 14th National Tourism Congress, and the 9th International Gastronomy Tourism Research Congress. Karamustafa, who also serves as a reviewer for numerous national and international journals and as a member of the scientific, advisory, and executive boards of scientific meetings, is a Founding Board Member of the Tourism Academics Association [TUADER].

Furthermore, according to the decision taken at the meeting of the Turkish University Sports Federation Board of Directors on March 20, 2025, he was appointed as a member of the Rectors Coordination Board.

He has a good command of English and has numerous national and international publications in the fields of tourism, hotel management, and marketing. He is married and has two children.

Appointed as the Founding Rector of Kayseri University by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as per the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette on September 6, 2018, Karamustafa was re-appointed as the Rector of Kayseri University by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as per the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette on September 15, 2022.
