Electricity in our Life Achievement Test and Science and Technology Attitude
Scale were used to collect data. The research was conducted according to the quasi
experimental design. In the study, concept cartoons with think-pair-share
technique were given to the experimental group and in the control group, the
activities mentioned in the science curriculum were carried out. As data collection
tools, the achievement test of unit “Electricity in our Life” and Science and
Technology Attitude Scale were used. The Cronbach-Alpha internal consistency
coefficient of the achievement test was found to be 0.60 and The Cronbach Alpha
internal consistency coefficient of the attitude test was found to be 0.81. For
analysis of data, Mann Whitney U test was used for unrelated measurements and
Wilcoxon signed rank test was used for associated measurements. According to
the results of the analysis; it was observed that the use of cartoon technique in
science teaching made a meaningful difference in academic achievement of
students, but it didn’t make a meaningful difference in their attitudes.
