Laussanne Exchangees Project

In 2017, T. Ercan Sepetcioğlu, Hasan Münüsoğlu, Iskender Yıldırım, Saim Örnek, Doruk Isıkcı and Z. Nilüfer Nahya came together to conduct a research on Lausanne Exchangees in Turkey. The preliminary studies in Kayseri formed the first steps of this project. The studies continued with online meetings as the researchers were in different cities. The Cretans' Festival, held in Kusadasi, gave the project team the opportunity to reunite. During the day, while the field work was carried out, the evening was spent time determining the details of the project. The official application for the TUBITAK 1001 funding program was made in March 2019 after the participation of Fahriye Emgili and Zeynep Kantemur in the project team. In August, the official letter came that the project had been accepted. We started the initial works with all our excitement in the period when the contract was expected to be signed.Doruk Isıkcı went to South Africa to study for a doctorate, but did not break ties with the team. Saim Ornek left the team due to his own PhD project. However, he also continues to prop up the project. The project's new assistants had no difficulty adapting to the team and subject matter prior to the contract. In March 2020, with the arrival of our contract, the excitement of field work began, at which time the first case of COVID-19 in Turkey was announced, and we had to stay home for almost 3 months. But our meetings continued. In June 2020, with the gradual abolition of COVID-19 measures, the research process was quickly initiated. From that day on, young volunteers have also joined us. Since then, we have been continuing our field research, strictly following the COVID-19 rules.

One day we can knock on your door…
