In this study, the authors examine "disciplinary dialogues" as a newly emerging genre in academic writing. They analyze 37 dialogues from a specialized corpus, uncovering a variety of strategies authors use to create a dialogic stance, such as citing scholars, asking rhetorical questions, and using hedging and reflective language. The findings have significant pedagogical implications for teaching academic writing, promoting critical thinking, and enhancing scholarly communication in second language writing contexts.
