Blood serum selenium levels were determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry using palladium as matrix modifier in healthy adults of the province of Kayseri-Turkiye. The mean selenium concentration of 73 adults were found to be 1.635 (mu mol/l. Serum selenium concentrations in females were statistically lower than (p< 0.005) in males. There was a general tendency in the concentrations of selenium to increase with age. No significant correlations were found between serum selenium concentrations and age groups and sexes.
