Ceramics, whether as utilitarian objects or art pieces, is an art of two-dimensional or three- dimensional form and surface structuring. In ceramic art, the form-surface relationship is enriched with many elements that emphasize plastic value. Texture is an important ornament and aesthetic complementary element among these elements.
The use of different textures and texture diversity in ceramic art can enable artists to imbue the work with unique aesthetic and plastic values, as well as conceptual qualities through random or conscious application methods. The structure, sensation, and rhythm of the texture can become a factor that strengthens the artist's expression. For the artist striving to create aesthetic and original forms, texture can transform into not only a visual decorative element but also a conceptual means of communication.
Seramik gerek kullanım eşyası gerek sanat objesi olsun, iki boyutlu veya üç boyutlu bir biçim ve yüzey yapılandırma sanatıdır. Seramik sanatında biçim-yüzey ilişkisi plastik değeri vurgulayan birçok öğe ile zenginleştirilmektedir. Doku, bu öğeler arasında yer alan önemli bir bezeme ve estetik tamamlayıcı unsurdur.
Seramik sanatında farklı doku kullanımı ve doku çeşitliliği, sanatçıların rastlantısal veya bilinçli uygulama yöntemleri ile esere özgü estetik ve plastik değer ile kavramsal nitelikler kazandırabilmektedir. Dokunun yapısı, hissiyatı ve yüzey üzerindeki ritmi, sanatçının dışavurumunu kuvvetlendiren bir unsura dönüşebilmektedir. Estetik ve özgün bir form yaratma çabasındaki sanatçı için doku, görsel bir bezeme öğesi olmasının yanı sıra, kavramsal bir ileti aracına da dönüşebilmektedir.
