Özet
H'uvs of life that constitute the culture of a nation also determine the lexical content of its language. This content is formed both by the new words derived from the morphological units of the mother tongue and by the borrowed words from other languages. In this paper, we will put the emphasis on the structure and the meaning of çepiş 'six-month old goat' that belongs to nomadic culture and, among the historic texts written until today, was first demonstrated in Dîvânü Lugâti't-Türk. First of all, the position of the word in the historical and contemporary subsections of Turkish will be explained. After that, opinions on the structure of the word will be mentioned. Finally, its relation with the verb çap- 'running, moving fast' with reference to phonetic, morphologic, semantic and lexicologic connections will be presented.
