PROBLEMS OF ADEQUATE TRANSLATION OF TURKISH IDIOMS TAKEN FROM
THE ORIGINAL TEXTS INTO RUSSIAN LANGUAGE
Our work is devoted to the study and adequate translation of idioms. It was carried out
on a material of 39 Aziz Nesin’s stories translation from Turkish into Russian.
To begin our research, we have found idioms in Aziz Nesin’s stories. Meanings of
idioms, considered as either separate units or within the text, were determined by means of Russian and Turkish dictionaries.
A method of comparison was used during the research. İt became the basis for conclusions, concerning ways of conveying the meaning of the Turkish phraseology into Russian, as well as the changes, idioms have been subjected to after being translated into Russian, in terms of meanings and structure.
The results of our research has formed a basis for the following conclusion: in the
process of Aziz Nesin’s stories translation from Turkish language into Russian the necessary attention was not given to 207 idioms, 202 of which, as the research has shown, have the equivalents in Russian; the other 5 examples have no equivalents.
