This paper seeks to analyse the recent Arab Spring and its impact on Turkey's newly activist foreign policy in the Middle East. It first examines the emergence of this new foreign policy line under the governing Justice and Development Party. Then it discusses the question of how the Arab revolts affected the conduct of Turkish foreign policy and argues that they forced Turkey to adapt its foreign policy to the new realities of the region. It thirdly elaborates on a discussion of how applicable and relevant the Turkish experience, called the 'Turkish model', is for the Arab nations. © 2013 Common Ground, Omer Kurtbag.
