Köl Tigin Yazıtının kuzey yüzü, diğer yüzlere oranla daha fazla
yıpranmıştır. Hatta bu yüzde çeşitli kopma ve kırılmalar meydana gelmiştir.
Bu yüzün 4. satırından itibaren Dokuz Oğuzlarla yapılan savaşlar
anlatılmakta olup, buradaki cümlelerin paraleli BK D 30’da geçmektedir.
Bu yazıda Köl Tigin Yazıtının kuzey yüzünün 6. satırında geçen ve genellikle
Bolçu şeklinde tamamlanan yer adının Dokuz Oğuzların yaşadıkları
yerlerle uyumsuzluk yaratmasından dolayı, olamayacağı üzerinde
duruldu. İlk iki harfi net olan ve Bo ya da Bu okumaya elverişli bu
yer adının, Şine Usu doğu 3 ve Terhin batı 4’te geçen ve son zamanlarda
yayımlanan bir bildiride Ulaangom yazıtının 1. satırında da Burguluk
şeklinde geçtiği ileri sürülen Burgu (~Burugu) ile bir ve aynı olduğu
önerilmiştir. Burgu (~Burugu)’nun yeri ile ilgili değişik görüşler
varsa da Selenge ve Tula arasında bir ırmak olmalıdır.

The northern face of the Kul Tigin Inscriptions has been
worn out much more than the other faces, and some parts of this face
have even broken off. From the fourth line onwards, the inscriptions
on this face describe the wars with the Nine-Oghuz, and a parallel
version of these sentences can also be found in BK D 30.
Scholars usually complete the incomplete place name appearing in the
sixth line of the inscription as Bolçu. This paper argues that this
completion is inaccurate primarily because it does not agree with the
geographical location of the Nine-Oghuz community. The paper,
therefore, suggests that this place name, whose first two letters can be
clearly read as Bo or Bu, is the same as Burgu (~Burugu) – a word
which also appears in the Sine Usu (East 3) and the Terkhin (West 4)
Inscriptions. A recently published paper also suggests that this word
appears as Burguluk in the first line of the Ulaangom Inscriptions.
Burgu (~Burugu) is most probably a river between Selenge and Tula,
but there are still contradictory views as to the exact geographical
location of the river.
