Özet

The study conducted on one-year-old flamingos (n = 14. 7 females and 7 males) was performed for investigating some blood biochemical parameters (enzyme activities: AST; ALT; GGT; ALP and CK. substrate concentrations: total proteins, albumin, globulins, cholesterol. triglyceride, Ca. P Mg, glucose, urea and creatinine) and for evaluating the sex effects on these parameters. Serum AST, ALT, GGT ALP activities and total protein. albumin, Ca, P, triglyceride, glucose, urea and creatinine concentrations were similar to those of other bird species and flamingos. However, CK activity and total cholesterol concentrations were lower and serum globulin. Mg concentrations were higher than those previously reported. Furthermore. sexual differences were evidenced for some parameters: CK activities were higher in males than in females (p<0.05) while Ca and glucose concentrations were significantly lower (p<0.01 and p<0.001 respectively). This preliminary study contributes to determine the main blood biochemical parameters in particular bird species well represented in exotic parks. the flamingos, for which data are very rare.
