Özet

Purpose: The aim or this study was to determine the learning strategies of students and to evaluate the effect on their success. Material and Methods: This descriptive study was carried out with a sample of 155 first-year medical students. A questionnaire was asministered to them. Results: Of our first-year medical students 53.5% stated that they prefer their own notes while they are studying. The percentage of the students studying always / usually according to a plan was 32.3% and the grade polnt averages of these students were higher. The grade point average of the students who take notes and underline the important points when they are reading or listening was found to be higher. The point averages of the students, who overview the previous lesson, prepare questions about the course before the lesson and ask teh points not understood in the lesson were found to be more successful. Conclusion: First year medical students do not participate actively in lession and only studyfrom their notes without doing any reserch. From these results, we may recommend the greater usage of active training methods during class. The recommendation of books to the students would be more beneficial.
