Özet

Air cargo plays an crucial role in the development of the world economy and global growth, in creating employment and reducing relative poverty to acceptable levels. Also, supports social development, accessibility to health systems and biodiversity conservation. The International Air Cargo Association identified basic goals such as decarbonization, increasing the level of welfare, increasing efficiency and profitability to ensure the sustainability of air cargo. Within the scope of the determined targets, the air cargo transportation sector has its own sustainability performance evaluation criteria due to its characteristics. In such a situation, considering both financial and non-financial performance measurements to create a holistic performance evaluation framework broadens the perspective. Optimization of air cargo sustainability has become more apparent, especially from the first stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, the general purpose of the study is to develop a holistic, transferable approach to evaluate the sustainability performance of air cargo carriers through multidimensional indicators and to understand the effect of COVID-19 on the sustainability of air cargo carriers. Due to the complex and multidimensional structure of airline sustainability performance, it is clear that MCDM methods can be a sufficient and powerful tool to perform the evaluation. In the literature, varied MCDM methods have been adopted to analyze performance and an effective approach based on MEREC and CoCoSo/Borda methods is used in this study.
