Diabetic
retinopathy (DR) is a disease occurring in the retina due to the negative
effects of diabetes. DR destroys the
structure of blood vessels and depending on this destruction blood leakages occur in the retina layer. Improper diagnosis and treatment weakens the visual
function or disappears it completely. The most effective method used for the accurate
diagnosis and treatment of DR is the Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA)
method. In this work, K-means clustering
(K-means) and artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithms are used to identify the
new hemorrhagic regions in the diseased retinal image obtained with FFA. Also the
total area of the hemorrhagic regions is calculated in order to obtain
mathematical data about the disease and as a result of this more accurate diagnosis of diseased regions has become possible.
