Of the 50 isolates studied, 43 (86%) were susceptible to both Tbilisi and Weybridge phages and grew on media containing thionine and basic fuchsin at 1/50 000 but not at 1/25 000. These 43 were also positive to the coagglutination reagent prepared against A antiserum and were identified as Brucella abortus; the other 7 were Brucella melitensis.
