Abstract

Intelligent transportation systems play a crucial role in enhancing transportation efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability through the use of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, real-time data analysis, and automation. Fleet management systems, as a component of intelligent transportation systems, have the potential to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs. Problems with fleet refueling, like unauthorized access, fuel thefts, and incorrect fuel consumption records, lead to operational inefficiencies and financial losses. In the literature, RFID technology is primarily used to prevent unauthorized access during refueling. However, the most important shortcoming of this technology is the inability to verify refueled vehicles. In this paper, we present a reallife application of an automatic fuel dispensing system that is based on YOLOv5 and includes vehicle recognition. The system significantly reduces errors, prevents unauthorized refueling and fuel leaks, and enhances operational efficiency.
