Situated in the Central Anatolia region, since the old ages Kayseri has been home land of

many civilizations, also today it is an important center in economic, social and cultural terms.

In order to preserve this characteristic of the city, and compete with the developed cities of the

world many important projects have been undertaken in the recent years. Planning of Erciyes

Mountain, Yamula dam and its recreation Project, Kayseri cultural road, and Kayseri

Wonderland, are some of the projects which will affect the cultural and social structure of the

city. In this context, another important project to be implemented by the Municipality of

Kayseri is the Kayseri Channel Project. The project which is currently in the planning stage is

thought to make use of the railway landline after removing the train station from the city

center towards the suburbs. The planned project will be supplied from Yamula dam of

Kızılırmak then bring water to the water pool-pond of Wonderland and from there through a

channel on the existing rail route it will be connected to Karasu in the Bogazköprü locality

situated in the southwest of the city, to be discharged again to Kızılırmak. Beside the

structures for social purposes which will be planned along the channel such as jogging paths,

parks and gardens and important recreational areas, it will also contribute to the city’s

transportation from the city center to the wonderland by the mean of the water-way.
