Abstract

A new magnesium insertion compound of the uranium oxide alpha-UO2.95 was synthesized at ambient temperature. The product was characterized structurally by powder X-ray diffraction. Enthalpy of formation was measured calorimetrically. Gibbs free energy of formation and magnesium diffusion coefficients we- determined electrochemically.
