This study was carried out to determine socio-economic situation of melon grower in Adana and Hatay province. Survey was conducted with melon grower by face to face interviewing. Differences between melon growers in Hatay and Adana were investigated as regarded to soscio-economic factors. While melon producers in Hatay and Adana were similar in terms of education level and size of management, they showed differences in other characteristics. It was observed that most of the melon producer family was large family. In winter time, melon producer in Hatay grow inventively grow carrot while producers in Adana grow other crops. In Adana, cotton and cereals were grown as alternative crops for melon whereas other vegetables were grown in Hatay as alternative crop for melon.
