Abstract

A simplistic, green and accurate analytical method for separation and preconcentration of Rhodamine B (RhB) in food and water samples, based on sonication-assisted liquid-phase microextraction-quasi-hydrophobic deep eutectic solvents (SA-LPME-QH-DES) with UV–Vis spectrophotometer was presented. In this study six different deep eutectic solvents (DES) have been prepared and their extraction efficiency was evaluated. ([Bet]: [Ph], 1:1 M ratio) was used as an extraction solvent and THF as an aprotic solvent in extraction procedure. Type and quantity of DES, pH, quantity of THF, sonication and centrifugation time as well as matrix effects were optimised. Under optimum conditions, coefficient determination (r2: 0.997), linear working range (29 – 400 µg L−1), detection limit (8.0 µg L−1) and enhancement factor (10.7) were optimized. The application of the method was evaluated for the extraction and determination of RhB in selected food and water samples and quantitative data were obtained (RSD ≤3.6%). This method presents simplicity, accuracy as a green alternative for determination of RhB in food and water matrices.
