Sporotrichosis is rare in Turkey. We report a 48-year-old man who had subcutaneous sporotrichosis caused by Sporothrix schenckii that was successfully treated with short-term itraconazole and potassium iodide. The isolate was susceptible to itraconazole also in vitro. Shortterm itraconazole and potassium iodide should be agents of choice for treatment of subcutaneous sporotrichosis. However, treatment is controversial both in choice of agent used and in duration of therapy.
