Özet

Excessive use of fossil fuels and environmental pollution has led researchers to foretell the need to develop alternative fuels like bio-fuels, ethyl-methyl alcohol, hydrogen, producer gas, acetylene etc. in order to meet the energy requirement. In this current study, the authors aims to explore the effect of acetylene addition along with CI engine, experimentally. An experimental study has been carried out on 4 stroke, 3-cylinder water-cooled compression ignition(CI) engine at 1500 rpm and different loads. Tests were conducted at %0, %25, %50, %75 and %100 load conditions at various acetylene mass. This acetylene addition was with flow rates of 200 and 400 g/h respectively. The results revealed that acetylene addition decreased brake thermal efficiency (BTE) with all different load conditions. Experimental results showed that highest brake thermal efficiency of 34.91% was achieved for baseline diesel. The adding of acetylene in diesel leads to increase CO,HC and NOx emissions, but soot was decreased. However, there is no considerable change at CO2 emissions.
