After the sugar beet harvest, a lot of agricultural waste is generated. Not utilizing
sugar beet waste, burning it randomly and leaving it to pile up on the edges of the garden causes
environmental pollution. The utilization of these wastes with high energy potential is important for
both the producer and our country. Therefore, the aim of the study was to evaluate sugar beet waste
as pellet biofuel. Sugar beet waste, which is suitable for pellet production in terms of energy value,
was pelletized with a material moisture of 10-13%, particle size of 2-5 mm and 7-10 mm and a pellet
diameter of 6 mm and 8 mm. In order to compare the strength properties of the pellets; pellet volume
density, pellet mechanical strength and breaking resistance were determined from their physical
properties. When examined in order, the lowest and highest value of the pellet volume density was
determined as 473.4-652.6 kg.m-3, while the mechanical strength values were 94.13-95.95%, the
breaking resistance was 99.00-99.57%. It was determined that the pellet diameter was statistically
significant in creating a difference between all measured parameters.
