As the volume of wastes generated in developing countries increase, management of these wastes evolve. Althoughlandfilling is not environmentally and economically a viable option, the advantage of electricity production do not go unnoticed by the municipalities as in Kayseri, Turkey. Kayseri metropolitan municipality has taken into operation of a landfill this year that will have a capacity over 3.3 million m3 of solid waste as well as a omposting and a leachate treatment plant in a 16 ha area. Landfill gas was collected in the old landfill site (revised dump site) since 2011 and it plays a crucial role in examining the behavior of the new landfill site constructed.
