Özet
In this study, five different Lomelosia Raf. (Caprifoliaceae) species from T & uuml;rkiye were analyzed for their phenolic contents, antioxidant and antibacterial properties. The methanol extracts contain quinic acid, chlorogenic acid, hesperidin and rutin as main components. The antioxidant activity was assayed with phosphomolybdenum, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity, ferric (FRAP) and cupric ions (CUPRAC) reducing capacity methods. The methanol extracts showed the high antioxidant activity based on the tests performed. The highest antiradical activity was observed for L. prolifera (IC50 = 24.21 & micro;g/mL) in the DPPH assay. But, they had no antibacterial activity against tested bacteria. According to results, Lomelosia could be considered as a good source of bioactive agents as antioxidants. As a result of the chemometric analyses, L. prolifera and L. paucidentata species were determined as promising species for further studies.
