Özet
Tourism has evolved into a significant arena of global communication shaped by digital transformation and user-generated content (UGC). This chapter conceptualizes UGC not merely as a marketing instrument but as a structuring mechanism within global tourism communication systems. Drawing on Uses and Gratifications Theory, Media Ecology Theory, and Intercultural Communication Theory, it examines how individual motivations, algorithmic infrastructures, and intercultural meaning-making processes intersect in digitally mediated tourism environments. The analysis highlights how UGC redistributes symbolic power, shapes destination visibility, and influences global cultural representation while generating ethical tensions such as credibility distortion, algorithmic bias, cultural commodification, and overtourism. To address these complexities, the chapter proposes the Responsible Digital Tourism Communication (RDTC) Framework, an integrative model that embeds transparency, inclusivity, authenticity, and sustainability across micro, meso, and macro levels of digital tourism communication.
