The current study aimed to investigate the relationship between vitamin D status and cardiometabolic risk factors in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Neither glycemic parameters nor lipid profile components were significantly associated with vitamin D status (P > .05 for each). The mean waist circumference and body fat mass tended to be higher in the group with vitamin D deficiency than in the group with no vitamin D deficiency (P = .046, P = .015, respectively). Vitamin D deficiency was associated with higher waist circumference and body fat mass rather than adverse glycemic and lipidemic outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
