In the title compound, C16H14O4, the benzene rings are inclined at a dihedral angle of 75.14 (9)degrees. The torsion angle of the bridging O-C-C-O group is - 76.50 (11)degrees. In the crystal, molecules are linked by C-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds, forming C(6) chains along . Furthermore, C-H center dot center dot center dot pi interactions and pi - pi stacking interactions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.6957 (7) and 3.6735 (8) angstrom] contribute to the stability of the crystal packing.
