Abstract

We identify a new species belonging to the genus Eupterotegaeus Berlese, 1916 (Oribatida, Compactozetidae) based on samples collected in 2015 from Hendek town, Sakarya Province. Morphological features of Eupterotegaeus hendekensis n. sp. were investigated by scanning electron microscopy. The new species Eupterotegaeus hendekensis n. sp. shows similarity to Eupterotegaeus ornatissimus (Berlese, 1908), but is differentiated by the rounded rostrum. absence of translamella or median lamellar process and the presence of an arched strong sculpture horizontally elongated on interbothridial region.
