Abstract

In this study, the Boundary Element Method (BEM) was employed for the numerical determination of the response of flexible pavements. The material behaviour of the soil was assumed to be linear elastic. The BEM was used in the Fourier transform space (FTS). The focus of this paper is to determine the stress and deflection distributions of interior points of the elastic half space. To achieve this aim, in this study, a computer program is developed for three-dimensional elastic problems. The results of stress and deflection distributions on flexible pavements determined using boundary element formulation are compared with Boussinesq equations published in the literature. It was concluded that the results obtained from BEM and Boussinesq formula are in perfect agreement with each other.
