This theoretical study aimed to investigate the dynamic behaviour of the saw-gin ginning machines with special reference to the separator-motor system. For this purpose, the characteristics of the motor-separator system are introduced and the dynamic behaviour of the transmission elements (coupling and belt-pulley) is investigated. The relationship between the kinetical energies of electrical motor and separator has been outlined, and optimum running conditions were obtained by introducing the non-dimensional parameters defining the mechanical operating conditions and a design procedure whereby the carried seed cotton mass and energy balance of the separator in such a system have been outlined.
