An enrichment/separation procedure for the atomic absorption spectrometric determinations of Cu (II), Fe(III), Ni(II), Co(II) and Pb(II) ions in Mn(NO3)(2) and KMnO4 has been established. The ammonium pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate (APDC) complexes of the analyte ions were adsorbed on the Chromosorb-102 column and then desorbed with 10 mL acetone. The effects of manganese concentrations as interferent were discussed. The method has been successfully applied to the determination of Cu, Fe, Ni, Co and Pb in analytical reagent grade manganese salts. Under optimized conditions, the recovery values were > 95%. The relative standard deviations (n = 5) with related to the determinations in the Mn(NO3)(2) and KMnO4 was in the range of 1-9% and 6-14%, respectively.
