Abstract
SUMMARY
Faba bean, as well as other edible legumes grains since it contains a high proportion of protein consumed as both dry and
fresh, is a valuable source of vegetable protein. It is also good rotation legumes plant fixed nitrogen to soil. In our country, faba
bean takes the fourth place in edible legumes after lentil, chickpea and fieldbean with regard to sowing area and production. It is
cultivated from the Mediterranean shore area to the Black Sea shore area in Turkey. However, it is produced almost 80 % in The
Aegean, The Mediterranean and The Marmara regions. Faba bean farming- countries in the world for dry and fresh bean, Turkey
is ranked in the last order in terms of sowing area and production. The faba bean production has been declined due to high cost of
production, climatic fluctuations and low prices of faba bean in recent y ears.
