Abstract

In this study; the characteristics of hazardous chemicals used in textile factories, the conditions of storage and the necessities to be observed during usage of them have been tried to be emphasized and the trainings of the employees in finishing factories have been presented in detail. One of the most important sub-businesses of the textile industry is the finishing industry. Because many textile materials are generally used after coloration. Hazardous and dangerous chemical substances are mostly used in pretreatment and dyeing processes. While some of these hazardous chemicals are carcinogenic, some may even exhibit flammable, explosive, and even mutagenic properties. For example; In addition to basic chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide, sodium hydrosulfite and sodium hydroxide, many different chemicals are used extensively in dyeing and pretreatment processes. It is very important to carry out very serious work and periodic training of employees to prevent them from the dangers of these chemicals especially in long term exposures. Considering that the textile sector is one of the leading sectors in exports, the fact that the number of employees in the sector is high indicates the importance of the measures to be taken.
