Abstract

This study investigated the effect of the Health Action Process Approach-based program on the influenza vaccination rate of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. A randomized controlled trial was conducted with 88 patients with COPD. Data analysis was performed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The influenza vaccine was received by 63.6% of the participants in the intervention group and 29.5% of the participants in the control group, and the difference between the groups was significant. The results of our study suggest that the Health Action Process Approach-based program may be useful to increase the rate of influenza vaccination. (C) 2019 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
