Özet
Globally cancer is a public health concern taking millions of lives worldwide every year. The complex nature of cancer establishment and spread has hounded researchers since decades. Different preclinical studies to identify molecular pathways and specific targets are underway. However not many preclinical targets are under clinical investigation. There is a dire need to translate the non-clinical findings from bench side to bedside to provide new and efficacious treatment options to cancer patients with minimal toxicity. The current chapter focuses on the challenges in the present cancer treatment along with the role of translational research, ongoing promising clinical trials and the role of big data in translational cancer research.
