Abstract

A simple separation-preconcentration procedure for the determination of trace metals in refined and unrefined salts is proposed. Metal ions are complexed by ammonium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (APDC) and sorbed onto activated carbon. Concentration of metal ions were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The method was applied successfully to the determinations of trace amounts of Cu, Ni,Pb, Fe, Cd, Zn,Co in refined and unrefined salt samples (Recoveries >95%, relative standard deviations < 6 %, relative error < 4%).
