Since its revelation, the Holy Qur’ān has attracted attention not only for the divine message it carries in its content, but also for the way it presents this message, its linguistic structure, and its discourse structure; it has been considered a unique text in terms of the Arabic language and rhetoric. Studies on the linguistic structure of the Holy Qur’ān have mostly focused on word choice, sentence structure, and stylistic features; sentence types, semantic relationships, and grammatical rules have been discussed in detail, especially within the framework of the science of grammar (nahw). However, the nature and limits of the relationship between the concept of the verse, which is the central structural and semantic unit in the text of the Holy Qur’ān, and the concept of the sentence, defined within the framework of the science of grammar in the classical Arabic grammar tradition, have often not been addressed in a clear, consistent, and systematic manner in the literature. The question of whether a verse is a linguistic structure, a semantic whole, or a unique unit of revelation encompassing both dimensions has been glossed over without sufficiently relating it to classical definitions of sentences; this has led to conceptual ambiguity in the semantic analysis of the Qur’ānic text and the evaluation of its intratextual meaning. Therefore, the lack of a clearly defined theoretical framework regarding the verse-sentence relationship presents a significant methodological problem that hinders the holistic understanding of the grammatical analysis and the rhetorical and semantic dimensions of the Qur’ānic language. However, it is a noteworthy and significant fact that the boundaries of verses and sentences do not always coincide exactly in the Qur’ān. While classical Arabic grammar defines a sentence as a syntactic structure that expresses a meaningful and complete judgment, a verse is considered, unique to the Qur’ān, as both the structural and semantic unit of revelation. Although there is sometimes overlap between these two concepts, in the Qur’ānic text, a verse sometimes forms only a part of a sentence, sometimes stands alone as an independent sentence, and sometimes contains more than one sentence. This situation makes it difficult to explain the language of the Qur’ān with classical grammatical patterns and makes the verse-sentence relationship a separate field of study. This study aims to examine the relationship between verses and sentence structures in the Holy Qur’ān within the framework of the questions: "Can a verse be a part of a sentence?", "Is a verse always a complete sentence?", and "Can a verse contain more than one sentence?". The scope of the research is not limited only to the semantic positions of the verses; it also examines how these structures contribute to the construction of meaning, emphasis, and the gradual transmission of the message. In this respect, the verse-sentence relationship is evaluated not only as a grammatical issue but also as a rhetorical and semantic issue. A qualitative research method has been adopted in the study; Selected verses from the Qur’ān have been analyzed in light of classical sources of exegesis and grammar. The functions of the verses within their context, their contributions to sentence structure, and their roles in the flow of meaning have been examined comparatively. This study reveals that the Qur’ānic text offers a unique linguistic strategy that progressively constructs the meaning of the verses, deepens emphasis, and prompts the reader to reflect. In this context, the study aims to demonstrate that the language of the Qur’ān is not a passive structure that can be explained merely by grammatical rules; rather, it presents a unique discourse system that utilizes these rules in a functional, flexible, and meaning-centered manner.
