Özet

The most important material in education and teaching studies in the world is textbooks. Textbooks and the scientists in them guide students at every level of education for years. For this reason, the scientists in middle school science textbooks were analyzed in the study. The authors examined the scientists in four (4) science textbooks taught in all grades of middle schools and Imam Hatip middle schools in the 2023-2024 academic year within the framework of the curriculum revised in 2018 by the Ministry of National Education (MEB) and the Board of Education. The research determined the degree to which scientists are included in the units in the textbooks. In this study, a case study, which is a qualitative research design, was adopted. The authors used textbooks as documents as a data collection tool. The authors adopted descriptive analysis as data analysis. The authors determined that scientists were included in the subjects in the textbooks for the fifth, seventh and eighth grades. On the other hand, the authors found that in the sixth-grade textbook, scientists were only included at the end of the unit. As a result of the research, it was seen that the scientists included in the textbooks and within the subject were distributed disproportionately. In other words, the research found that scientists were included in the textbooks, but there were not enough explanations about them. The authors presented their suggestions based on the findings and limitations and suggested that scientists should be included more in the textbooks.
