Özet

Acupuncture which is an alternative of complementary and alternative medicine is not used widespread although it is a well known therapy. In this study expectations of a heterogen group who were assigned to receive acupuncture therapy and their level of satisfaction were tried to be determined. Everyone who responded to a general announcement to receive acupunture therapy were recruited in this study. Pretreatment expectations were interrogated for this group. Just after the treatment their levels of satisfaction were determined with visual anologue scale. Hundred and ninty five (195/347; 56.2%) patients were participated in the post therapy evaluation. A hundred and one (29.1%) of these patients were stated that they were satisfied with the treatment. Pain or complaints of 178 patients (51.3%) were observed to decrease as assessed with visual analogue scale. Patients expectations that their pains or complaints would be decreased were evaluated according to their age, sex, level of education, occupation and monthly income with logistic regression analysis. As a result we concluded that healthy people or patients are are eager to receive acupuncture therapy and this situation is not different interpersonally on the basis of demographic characteristics.
