Abstract

© Chamber of Textile Engineers. The study presents an investigation on the optimizing of various coating process parameters for color difference after abrasion of denim fabrics by using Taguchi method. The parameters selected for optimization are squeeze pressure, viscosity of coating fluid, fabric passing speed, drying temperature and weft density. An L27 (35) orthogonal array was chosen as experimental plan. In the evaluations with Taguchi Method, analyses of the signal to noise ratio (S/N) and variance (ANOVA) were used. It was found that the most effective input parameter for color difference is drying temperature. Also, the satisfying combination for minimum color difference was determined as 17 picks/cm weft density. 120°C drying temperature, 30 dPa. s viscosity, 5 bar squeeze pressure, 10 niiiiin fabric passing speed.
