Özet

The sustainable and planned structuring of cultural resources for tourism depends on a correct understanding of cultural tourism and tourist expectations. Festivals, forming the basis of these cultural resources, create significant potential in terms of tourist mobility. The Karakeçili International Culture Festival, first held in 1995 and possessing international status, is organized annually by the Karakeçili Tribe, belonging to the Kayı clan of the Oghuz Turks (Atik, 2019). Thanks to the curiosity aroused by the tribe's role in history, it creates significant tourist mobility, attracting members from different geographical regions and contributing to economic development. The festival provides an opportunity to revive the cultural and historical identity that is being forgotten and to transmit cultural elements to other people. Based on this information, this study aims to evaluate the current state of the Karakeçili International Culture Festival in terms of cultural tourism, identify practices that will further increase tourist mobility, and present important outputs and recommendations for academia and the sector. Based on the evaluations, it has been observed that there are some shortcomings in the planning and promotion that would increase the festival's appeal and reach a wider audience. In particular, despite the ease of reaching a larger audience in the digital world, it has been determined that the Karakeçili International Culture Festival has not adequately utilized digital marketing practices, especially social media platforms.
