The study of translations of Gabdulla Tukay's lyrics has its own history. Active translation of the poet's lyrics into Russian began only after his early death in 1913. Thus, this history spans 110 years. Among the translators of Tukay's poetry were many famous Russian poets. Productive work on translating the works of G. Tukay into Russian continues to this day. The article analyzes the original works of the Tatar poet G. Tukay and their translations into Russian in the aspect of intercultural communication and interliterary dialogue, introducing a new interpretation of translation activity as a form of self-identification in the context of the Russian-Tatar cultural borderland
