Nowadays, the problem of wear on the knee and hip joints is an important question that concerns many people and still requires new solutions. Researches on the wear of knee and hip joint cartilage in recent years have also been investigated in terms of bio-tribology. Recent developments and studies in this area have been examined. The solution methods provided by the basic principles of tribology can be provided useful solutions in bio-tribology. Artificial joints in different designs using various materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers and composites have also been studied. New work in this area will affect the development of implant technology. New alloys or composites materials are being tested for new implants designs. Moving implants that are at risk of wear are tested in simulator devices in laboratory conditions before they are used in the human body. Today is still important and current; the relevance of topics such as Nanotechnology, Tissue Engineering, Orthopaedics, Tribology, Bio-tribology, Lubrication, Organ Transplantation and Artificial Organs to bio-tribological research will be useful in solving many problems for future. This review article aims to provide a general screening of in-vitro studies that should be performed prior to clinical trials.
