External abdominal wall hernias are an uncommon diagnosis in clinical practice that usually occurs as a complication of blunt trauma. They can develop at any age, although are rarely seen in newborn kittens. The present report describes an abdominal wall hernia located just above the superficial ring of the inguinal canal, similar to the peri-inguinal hernia described in human patients.
