Abstract

This study focuses on the sociology of the faculty members of the communication faculties. Based on the presumption that the rapid increase of the number of communication faculties operating in higher education institutions within Turkey should be examined, it is targeted to describe the academic composition in the field of communication sciences which is regarded as interdisciplinary. The content analysis method was used in the study of 38 communication faculties that have been conducting educational activities in public universities. In the study, answers to the following questions are sought; whether the staff engineering in the faculty is employed in a way that fulfills the requirements of an interdisciplinary science, or whether there is a hybrid / hybrid structure. The findings reveal that, the communication faculties in public universities have a composition of faculty members with academic formation in various social sciences and disciplines of science.
