The effects of different chemicals on yield and quality of 'Sweet Ann' strawberry nursery plants grown in Cappadocia Region - preliminary results

Özet

Turkey has the third place in world strawberry production. The country has achieved this rank in short time with persevering and patient work of universities and research institutes. Increased fruit production has also brought together a distinctive need for high-yield and quality strawberry nursery plants in Turkey. Sufficient numbers and quality of produced strawberry nursery plants are requested in Turkey. The effects of 4 different treatments (humic acid, IBA (indole butyric acid) + NAA (naphthalene acetic acid), trace element fertilizer, and glycine amino acid) on plant development and quality of 'Sweet Ann' strawberry nursery plants were investigated. Soil analyses on the experimental plots were performed before 50 kg of 15-15-15 (N-P-K) chemical basic fertilizer was applied. Nursery plants were planted during the first week of May in 2014, whereby chemical treatments were performed when the initial stolon of the plants was ready for rooting. Treatments were applied 4 times in 15-day intervals. The results of the first year revealed that the chemical treatments had significant positive impacts on yield and quality parameters (number of plantlets, classification (%), plant height, root length, fresh weight and dry weight) of 'Sweet Ann' strawberry nursery plants. Especially glycine amino acid distinctively increased the number of plantlets. It was also concluded herein that combined application of these chemicals may provide more efficient outcomes.
