Although cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) applications cause higher x-ray emission than conventional imaging methods, it has been become a required imaging method for accurate diagnosis and successful treatment planning in certain circumstances. As in all individuals, in pediatric patients KIBT should be requested only when other imaging methods are not sufficient and only with right indications that will benefit the patient. In our study, it was aimed to retrospectively examine the reasons for CBCT request in pediatric dentistry practices and the distribution of these reasons by age and gender. In the data analysis, CBCT was requested mostly from the maxillary region and mostly for anatomic-morphologic evaluation and for the detection of impacted supernumerary teeth. There is no significant relationship between the imaged regions and age; however, it has been observed that CBCT for the evaluation of impacted supernumerary teeth and the bony lesion are required at higher ages than those in the impacted permanent tooth. No significant relationship was found between imaged regions and reasons for gender.
